On April 14, 2026, Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Hu Changchun visited Ethiopia and met with Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs Berhanu Tsegaye and Prime Minister’s Advisor on East African Affairs Getachew Reda. Director General of Middle East, Asia, and Pacific Affairs at the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dawano Kedir and Minister of the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia Sun Mingxi were present.

Hu Changchun stated that China highly values the all-weather strategic partnership between the two countries. China stands ready to deepen practical cooperation with Ethiopia in various fields, strengthen communication and coordination in international and regional affairs, and advance the concrete implementation of the Outlook on Peace and Development in the Horn of Africa.

The Ethiopian side highly appreciates the significant contributions made by China, as a responsible major country and a long-term sincere partner of Africa, to advancing peace and development in Africa. Ethiopia is ready to strengthen solidarity and coordination within the framework of the Outlook on Peace and Development in the Horn of Africa and jointly uphold regional peace and stability.
