On April 13, 2026, Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Hu Changchun visited Somalia and met with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. Somali Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy Ahmed Hassan Aden, National Security Advisor Aweys Haji Yusuf, and Chinese Ambassador to Somalia Wang Yu attended the meeting.

Mohamud stated that Somalia highly values the development of Somalia-China strategic partnership, firmly adheres to the one-China principle, and stands ready to strengthen friendly cooperation with China in various fields, jointly implement the Outlook on Peace and Development in the Horn of Africa, and promote regional peace and development.

Hu Changchun noted that China and Somalia enjoy profound traditional friendship. China stands ready to work with Somalia to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), and continue to make new contributions to achieving long-term peace and stability in the region under the framework of the Outlook on Peace and Development in the Horn of Africa.
